The student will develop and expand his or her knowledge of the processes, techniques, and applications used in the creation of media artwork.

The student will create media artwork that demonstrates an understanding and command of the principles of artistic design.

The student will access, analyze, interpret, and create media texts.

The student will make connections between the media arts and other arts disciplines, other content areas, and the world.

The student will understand the context and history of the development of the media arts from the late nineteenth century to present and will recognize the role of media artwork in world cultures.

The student will demonstrate a knowledge of digital citizenship and a sense of responsibility in the media arts.

Identify the specific skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary for creating media artwork.

Use a variety of media technologies, techniques, and processes to communicate ideas.

Develop an understanding of and respect for the accepted procedures regarding the responsible care of media arts equipment and materials.

Develop a basic media arts vocabulary and identify elements of artistic design specific to individual media.

Construct basic designs to communicate his or her personal experiences through media artwork.

Identify the creator and the purpose for simple media texts.

Identify messages in simple media texts.

Express his or her thoughts and feelings about simple media texts.

Describe ways that different audiences might respond to specific media texts.

Identify creative techniques used in a variety of media texts (for example, television, film, radio, Internet).

Identify uses of the media arts in everyday life.

Compare and contrast the media arts with other arts disciplines and other content areas.

View and describe a variety of media art forms.

View and discuss media artwork that portrays family and/or community.
