SWBAT determine central idea or theme in oral presentations or texts to explain how it is developed by specific details and summarize part of the text. Students will use compound sentences that include and, because, before, after.

SWBAT participate in discussions and written exchanges on familiar topics, texts, and issues building on others ideas while expressing their own, including adding relevant information and restating key ideas.

SWBAT ask and answer questions using who, what, where, when, how many, and how much.

SWBAT deliver short oral presentations using elaborated sentences with has/have/had or is/are/was and derivational or multiple adjectives.

SWBAT, with support, compose written informational text about familiar topics, texts, or events developing the topic with few details.

SWBAT construct or explain a claim about familiar topics. Students will introduce the topic, provide multiple reasons or factors and provide a conclusion while using elborated sequence words. Students will cite source evidence to support analysis.

SWBAT to carry out a short research project by gathering multiple resources, creating a summary and evaluating the reliability of each source. Students will paraphrase key information in short written or oral report while using illustrations, diagrams, or other graphics.

SWBAT consider their task or audience and carefully select appropriate academic words and expressions to use through developing control of style and tone. Students will use possessive adjectives and pronouns to convey meaning.

SWBAT figure out the meaning of new words using other information, such as pictures, words, root and base words in English or my first language.

SWBAT retell a story or introduce a topic with one or two facts including common transitional words and a conclusion.

SWBAT use simple and compound sentences (and, because, before, after) using various types of nouns, verbs, conjunctions, prepositions, adjectives, and adverbs.
